From 1988 to 1997, Prof. Wu served as Assistant Professor, Lecturer and Associate Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Director of the Machine Tool Research Laboratory and Deputy Director of the Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (IAMT) at HUST, Standing Director of the China Machine Tool Society (CMTS), Deputy Director of the South Central Machine Tool Society (SCMTS), Deputy Director of the South Central Machine Tool Dynamics Society (SCMTDS), etc. From 2000 to 2001, Prof. Wu worked in the Signal Processing Centre of the Singapore Science and Technology Board (STB). From 2000 to 2001, he worked at the Signal Processing Centre of Singapore Technologies Agency (STA) as a research engineer and researcher, and from 2002 to 2014, he worked at the Infocomm Research Institute (IRI) of STA as a researcher, senior researcher, or scientist, and was appointed as a Distinguished Professor of Wuhan University of Science and Technology (WUST) in 2014.

Prof Wu Shi-Qi is a highly cited scholar in China, a senior member of the International Electrical and Electronics Association (IEEE), and has served as an editorial board member of ScientificWorld Journal, a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Multimedia Communications, and has served as conference chair and technical committee chair of many international conferences. He has been a member of the editorial board of ScientificWorld Journal, a member of IEEE Technical Committee on Multimedia Communications, and has been the chairman of many international conferences and technical committees. He is a reviewer for many international journals, such as IEEE Trans.

So far, Prof Wu has published two monographs (Dynamic Fuzzy Neural Networks, McGraw-Hill, Singapore, 2003, and Dynamic Fuzzy Neural Networks - Design and Applications, Tsinghua University Press, 2008), and over 250 articles and 4 papers in domestic and international journals and conferences. More than 250 articles, 4 articles have been listed as the most popular articles by the journals they appeared in, and the total citations of the articles have exceeded 5000 times, he has been selected as one of the highly cited scholars list in China in 2014 ~ 2020 (Computer Technology), and he owns 21 patented technologies including US patents. He has undertaken more than ten research projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Hubei Provincial Major Project for Technological Innovation, and the National Science and Technology Board of Singapore, and has established a wide range of co-operative research teams in domestic and international universities and institutes. Its research direction mainly includes: computer vision, pattern recognition, intelligent robotics and artificial intelligence.
